The Company
FAST is a non-profit organisation run by Benjamin Schostakowski and Belinda Locke that presents the Festival of Australian Student Theatre at La Boite Theatre, Brisbane.
The festival is run in association with La Boite Theatre Company and QUT Creative Industries. The festival seeks to bring together the nation's student theatre companies and showcase the incredible talent emerging through these companies. It will allow for national networking, create opportunities for the growth of Australian student theatre, and look towards building new connections to industry.
The People
Benjamin Schostakowski is FAST’s founding Artistic Director. He is also a performer and theatre maker. Benjamin holds a Bachelor of Creative
Industries Drama (1st Class Honours), and is a PhD candidate in Performance Studies with QUT. Some of Benjamin's theatre credits include GENESIS (Brisbane Festival Works In Progress/Ben Knapton),The Glorious Nosebleed (monsters appear/Metro Arts Allies). Così fan tutte (Assistant Director - Opera Queensland). In 2009 Benjamin was the Artistic Director of Vena Cava Productions. In 2011 Benjamin is an Associate Artist with Queensland Theatre Company.
Belinda Locke is the General Manager and Artistic Associate of FAST. She is also a theatre maker and arts worker based in Brisbane. She graduated with a Bachelor of Creative Industries in Drama from the Queensland University of Technology in 2009. Belinda was the General Manager of Vena Cava Productions in her graduating year. In 2010 she undertook Honours year in Performance Studies at QUT to investigate magical realism in visual theatre. Belinda is currently the Development Coordinator at Brisbane Festival.
